Jaime Bosserman graduated with her Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Through her career as a therapist, Jaime has gained experience working with children, adolescents and their families; as well as experience providing group, family, and individual therapy.  She works with individuals and families on a variety of concerns including eating disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma issues, LGBT-Q concerns, and those struggling with poor self esteem.

It is very rewarding for Jaime to be a part of helping people to live healthier and happier lives.  She believes in creating a non-judgmental and safe environment to help clients process their feelings about difficult experiences so that they can no longer feel “stuck,” and begin to experience the freedom that comes from being able to move on with one’s life.  In the therapeutic relationship, she likes focus on a person’s strengths to help empower them, to enact positive change in their lives.  Jaime uses an integrative therapeutic approach which is based on a clients individuals needs.  However, Jaime primarily uses concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as it addresses negative thinking patterns that are prevalent in many mental health concerns.

Jaime previously worked at Grafton Integrated Health Network, where she provided individual and family therapy to clients and their families in a residential setting. This experience allowed her to gain skills working with a very high-risk population.  At Grafton, she was also able to help create and maintain an intensive outpatient program for adolescents.  This program helped clients and their families to gain the tools they needed to stabilize and engage in their recovery process.  Jaime greatly enjoys seeing children, adolescents, adults and families on an outpatient basis. She has completed internships at Alexandria’s Department of Human Services and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.  She is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Virginia and is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers.  In addition to providing the aforementioned services, Jaime also now provides animal-assisted therapy.

Please meet Jaime's therapy assistant Pixie!!!

Pixie is a Maltipoo working with
Jaime Bosserman, LCSW as her Therapy Dog/Assistant. She helps make the therapeutic experience more enjoyable and relaxing for clients by helping to lift the clients mood and providing comfort at times of sadness or high anxiety.  Pixie is trained to be responsive to increased anxiety that may not be presenting externally, but is being experienced by the client.  Another role for Pixie, is to allow a client to re-direct emotional energy in the form or petting or touch which helps enable the client to continue to verbalize their thoughts and feelings on a difficult or sensitive topic.  We are excited to have Pixie as part of the Atlantic Counseling Group team.
