Lisa Spielman, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia. She received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and her Master degree in Counseling from Marymount University.  After graduation, she worked in community mental health for three years and later moved into private practice, where her work focused on individuals, couples, and children.

Lisa specializes in working couples and relational issues. When a couple has lost their ability to communicate, she is able to use a variety of therapeutic tools to help them mend their relationship. This includes couples who are dealing with or have dealt with infidelity.  She also has experience working with children and families to support the family system through developmental stages and transitions, as well as, emotional challenges that are typically expressed through behavioral problems. Specifically, her work often focuses on symptoms of aggression, academic difficulties, social withdrawal, and family conflict. She draws from a wide variety of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Family Based, and Play therapies.  Her approach to working with clients is to help increase their insight into their current concerns in order to implement an appropriate action plan that moves towards personal growth and healing.
