Mehtab Kaur earned her B.S. in Psychology (2016) with a minor in Medical Humanities from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mehtab received her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2020) from Marymount University. She is currently in her first year of residency with Atlantic Counseling Group.
Mehtab has previously worked with children, adolescents and adults in private practice settings as well as court mandated psychoeducational groups. Mehtab views therapy as one of the greatest gifts one can give to themselves to promote healing, better communication skills, emotional regulation, growth and nurturing the inner self. She focuses on areas such as transitional phase of life, maternal mental health, anxiety, depression (peripartum, postpartum or regular onset), grief, individual and/or couples and relational issues. Additionally, her interests are relative (but certainly not limited) to intergenerational trauma, domestic violence, social justice issues and women empowerment.
As a counselor, Mehtab uses a range of therapeutic techniques and draws from many theoretical backgrounds such as Mindfulness based CBT and DBT to tailor her treatment plans and goals to best suit the client needs. She welcomes all individuals regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, culture, race and lifestyle.
Additionally, Mehtab has experience in attending and presenting at international counseling conferences centering suicide prevention education, intergenerational trauma as well as sociopolitical issues affecting marginalized populations. She also serves as an active member of the American Counseling Association as well as the Chi Sigma Iota chapter.
As Mehtab progresses through residency, she receives clinical supervision from an LPC at Atlantic Counseling Group.
