Dr. Tami Nelson, PsyD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorders (PTSD) in children, adolescents, and adults. She utilizes a largely cognitive-behavioral approach and is certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for PTSD, which is the gold standard for PTSD treatment in adults. Dr. Nelson also works with couples and families utilizing a strengths-based approach.

Dr. Nelson received her PsyD in clinical psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in 2015. She completed her internship with HealthEast Care System, where she gained extensive experience in integrated health care settings, including chemical dependency treatment, cancer care, neuropsychological assessment, and inpatient hospital mental health. During this time, she also led group therapy programming for depression, PTSD, and chemical dependency. Most recently, Dr. Nelson had the opportunity to live in Sweden and then in Haiti, where she gained experience working with Foreign Service officers, military service members, and their families.

Dr. Nelson believes that a collaborative and empathic approach to treatment empowers individuals, couples, and families to create lasting change. She works with every client to develop an individualized treatment plan to guide the therapeutic progress and create tangible goals for progress. When Dr. Nelson is not practicing psychology, she is enjoying time with her husband, children, and dogs. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, and running.
